We are members of the Green Tourism Business Scheme and as such are committed to good environmental practise and sustainable development. We meet the minimum legal requirements related to environmental protection and waste disposal and aim to minimise our impact and maximise the positive aspects that we have on the environment. We support sustainable tourism through activities in economic, social and environmental issues.
We are demonstrating our commitment in practise through the following activities:
- Supporting the Isles of Scilly Wildlife Trust in financial and practical ways
- Assisting in the annual littler cleaning of our banks and beaches
- Recycling glass, paper and any other items where safe and practical
- Installing dual flush toilets and other water saving devices
- Using more local and Cornish produce to reduce food miles
- Introducing greener cleaning materials and composting or recycling food waste
- Installing low energy lighting where possible/practical
You can help us in our endeavours by:
- Switching off lights and appliances where not needed
- Using the hemp shopping bag instead of plastic carriers
- Supporting our recycling effort by reading and using our Bin Blurb
- Take a plastic bag on your walk and bring home a bit of beach rubbish for disposal (Carrier bags available in Fraggle if non in chalet).
- Bag and Bin dog waste!
The above are just a small sample of the good practices being undertaken to minimise our damage to the planet, if you have any ideas or advice it is always welcome.
