Bryher Community Building Newsletter
Just over a year ago fund raising began in earnest in order to raise the sums needed to provide Bryher with a purpose built Community Building. It was hoped that this new building would provide a venue for a variety of community events, as well as housing the snooker table from the Reading Room and providing a more modern and suitable surgery from which the doctor could practice.
Visitors to the islands last year cannot have failed to have been caught up in fund-raising events, whether it was the island fete in August, line dancing, jazz performances or the live music performed by David Dan at Fraggle. The result of this fundraising was that supported by money from Grant sources £150,000 has currently been raised to support the community building fund!
I’m sure you will agree this is an astounding sum to have been achieved both in so short a time, and by so few people. A big THANK YOU must be said to all our visitors who have supported us so generously in our efforts.
